Local Academy Councillors
The Local Academy Council (LAC) is deeply committed to the success of the school and dedicated to ensuring that every student receives the highest quality education, along with the opportunities and experiences necessary to reach their full potential. Our Councillors play a crucial role in overseeing the school's operations, serving as "critical friends" to school leaders, and holding the school accountable for its performance and continuous development.
The LAC has an important role in acting as the eyes and ears for the Trust Board providing important community oversight at a local level of the school’s performance, vision and ethos. As a local academy councillor, you will not be involved with the day-to-day running of the school. Councillors normally attend meetings in the evening, read and comment on reports and visit the schools termly to see first-hand the impact of their work.

Mrs Nikky Roby - Chair of the Local Academy Council
"I was voted on to the board of governors at Burscough Priory as a parent governor in 2016 not long before the school was placed in special measures and joined Endeavour Learning Trust. I wanted to make a difference and give back to my local community.
After joining Endeavour, most of the existing governing body left but I wanted to stay and I was determined to play my part in helping the school to improve and ensure the students receive the education they deserve. I was appointed to the newly formed Local Academy Council and a couple of years later was proud to be appointed as chair by the Trustees.
Being chair is a privilege. As well as running the meetings with my fellow councillors I get to interact with students and the senior leaders in school and I have learned so much about the education system and how schools operate as I do not come from an education background. I was most proud to be part of the team when OFSTED judged the school to be good and now want to continue help the school to go from strength to strength".
